Lekki Resident Association (LERA), currently served by Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) with a 4X15MVA Lekki Injection Substation and a Water Front 1X15MVA Injection Substation, is underserved because of infrastructure/capacity shortfalls, requiring over 130MW following a 10-year 2014 Lekki Phase 1 power-suppressed demand study.
The growing rate of residential, commercial, and economic development in addition to the increase in population has led to frequent electric power failures, fluctuations, and outages in Lekki Phase 1, necessitating a dependent & reliable distribution of electricity. Hence, Millwater has planned for a robust grid power supply with an option of flywheel technology that is a Dynamic-UPS (DUPS) from Rolls Royce to meet their needs for the next 10 years with a projection at 175MW.
